My Pregnancy Journal #25
Plus, How to Homeschool When Preparing for Birth
and/or On Bedrest

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born, I set you apart.
Jeremiah 1:5

I prayed for this child, and the Lord granted me what I asked of Him. So now I give him to the Lord.
1 Samuel 1:27-28

“Oh that God would give every mother a vision of the glory and splendor of the work that is given to her when a babe is placed in her bosom to be nursed and trained! Could she have but one glimpse into the future of that life as it reaches on into eternity; could she look into it’s soul to see its possibilities; could she be made to understand her own personal responsibility for the training of this child, for the development of its life, and for its destiny, –she would see that in all God’s world there is no other work so noble and so worthy of her best powers, and she would commit to no others hands the sacred and holy trust given to her.” -JR Miller

How far along are you?  25 weeks today!  A slight "waddle" began over the last week.  ;-p

{Sorry for the delay in inserting a 25 week photo of myself...  I had to wait until I found time at some point today to shower.  The moms that understand this are laughing right now.}

Baby's growth?  Naomi is now approximately one and a half pounds and about 13.5 inches long! - about the size of a rutabaga.  :)  She's now beginning to get some baby fat.   #ILoveBeingPregnant

Medical Stuff: Thank you all for the prayers concerning my back!  I received prayer from a lot of people at church Sunday morning as well. I shared on my Facebook that, "I just receive & walk in their faith extended to intercede for me & the power of Jesus and His heart of restoration for me."  It has begun to improve!  Slowly but surely it is!!  HE IS MY JEHOVAH RAPHA, THE GOD WHO HEALS.  Also, my OB/GYN agreed to write me a referral to my chiropractor so that my medical coverage would consider it a "pregnancy related issue" and cover the cost.  So, PRAISE HIM again!  :)

Best moment this week? Someone recommending me to Christa Black!  If Brooke Fraser and Shania Twain's voices were combined in an alternate universe, then Christa Black was the result here. ;-p I'm in love with her heart, music, and writing.  She has written two INCREDIBLE articles on pregnancy and childbirth that I HIGHLY recommend!!!  Listen and read here.

Cravings?  After caving during errands one day this week & buying a cheap cup of coffee at a gas station, my cup at home yesterday brewed from organically grown, fairly-traded, dark roast beans may be one of the best things I've ever tasted as it's full-bodied flavor filled my mouth & wafted through my senses. ♥ "We don't know what we've got till it's gone. They paved paradise & put up a parking lot."

P.S. - I made you want coffee & to listen to that song on youtube now, didn't I?  ;)  Question: who's voice do you hear in your head when thinking of this song?  Joni Mitchell's original "Big Yellow Taxi" or Counting Crows' re-make?

Thoughts from the family?  My belly continues to be a hand magnet.  :)

Discussion Question: "How did the moms who are homeschooling deal with a birth and a new baby in the middle of their homeschooling year? Did they take a break? Or power through? What if you were on bedrest, how did you homeschool from bed?"
Take a break or power through?  Well...both.  You power through at the times you can and allow yourself to take breaks when you need to!  This is one of the many BEAUTIES of schooling at home.  Freedom and flexibility.  :)
Concerning homeschooling during bedrest, I have schooled on prescribed bedrest during the third trimester of one of my pregnancies and during self administered bedrest during my first trimesters due to hyperemesis.  It's totally doable!  But again, you must give yourself grace when you aren't able, and pull from God's never-ending recess of strength to push through when you can!  Don't give up on it, just do what you can WHEN you can, and be intentional about whatever you do; even rest.  ;)

Prayer Requests:  Praying for an old friend & his sweet wife...  Their baby girl was born 15 weeks early this week (we were due the same week, which of course hits home in a different way for my husband and I right now).  They were blessed with her precious life for a day and now she waits for them in Glory.  We have a glory baby as well, but I have never had to look in the face of a child born here and then let them go.  I cannot imagine and my heart aches so desperately for their family this morning.
Please remember Brandon & Jessica and heartily lift them up with me; for His perfect & unfathomable peace.
"Rejoice with those who rejoice [sharing others’ joy], and weep with those who weep [sharing others’ grief]." (Romans 12:15)
"To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion—to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit—that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified."  (Isaiah 61:3)
"Blessed and enviably happy [with a happiness produced by the experience of God’s favor and especially conditioned by the revelation of His matchless grace] are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted! "  (Matthew 5:4)
