A Short Note on the Death of OBL

I do not doubt in the slightest, as my friend Sarah mentions it well, that God displays His justice and righteousness by punishing wickedness.  "I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless." {Isaiah 13:11}  It is truth.

So is this: {Ezekiel 33:11} “I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live.” and this: "Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice, or the LORD will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from them." {Proverbs 24:17-18} Of course, Moses and the Israelites rejoiced when the Egyptian army was swallowed up by the sea because they were an enemy of Almighty God.

It's a bit of a conundrum to our finite minds.  God IS love and He IS righteous and just.  I think how I feel about it was well said by D Burk, "I shudder to think of what Bin Laden is facing right now. I do not question the justice of it, but I can hardly bear to contemplate the horror of it (hell)."

Just like the nation of Israel both "shouted for joy" AND "fell on their faces" in worship to the Lord {Leviticus 9:24}, we should beware to stay our reactions in a balance of rejoicing in the Lord's victory over evil and grief of yet another lost soul spending eternity in hell, away from our loving God.  I think that President Abraham Lincoln depicted it well in his Second Inaugural Address.

Jesus truly is the Lion and the Lamb {Gen 49 and Rev 5}

Thank you to all the men and women who serve this country faithfully.
